The little boy went to bed one night and as per his usual routine, knelt beside his bed, closed his eyes, placed his hands together and started to pray.
” Our Father – yes Lord, you are my heavenly Father in whom I trust and believe.
Who art in heaven – yes Lord, You are in heaven and you are so high above us.
Hallowed be Thy name - Lord, your name is the name above all names and is the only name.
Thy Kingdom come - Yes Lord, I can not wait for your Kingdom to come to us.
Thy will be done - Oh Lord, let it be not what I want, but what you want. Forgive me for being selfish sometimes and wanting a bike and skateboard, but I am only a little boy and I do sometimes want to play, but God I understand if it is not your will for me to have these things.
On earth as it is in heaven - Yes God, I can’t wait for that day that earth becomes just like heaven, and we can play with the lions and all that stuff. It will be real cool.
Give us this day our daily bread – Lord, I prayed for this last night as well, but I am hungry. I have not eaten today nor yesterday.”.
God Replied to the little boy, “My Son, I am so sorry. I want to give you food that you will not be hungry. It hurts me so to see that you have not been fed.
I asked Jim, Barry, John and Samantha to take some food to you, but none of them obeyed me.”
God does not send things that suddenly fall out of heaven to the earth. He can but it is not how he works. God uses ordinary people like you and me to do things for him. How many times have you heard God’s voice telling you to do something and you fail to obey him like Jim, Barry, John and Samantha did in the case of the hungry little boy.
God uses you as a vessel to work through. God Blesses you so that you have the ability to give where it is needed and when it is needed.
The next time that God calls on you to give something, obey him and give so that God can in turn provide more to you. If you continuosly fail to obey God and fail to give as he commands you, what you have will eventually be taken away and given to someone else who does obey him and gives as God calls upon him to do so.
Lastly, remember that God states in Mathew 6:1 that your charitable deeds should not be done before men. Do not let your right hand know what your left hand is doing.
Why!
Simple, is it you doing it or is it God that is doing it through you.
God does not share His glory with anyone.
