The laws of prosperity are those universal laws that will bring about prosperity to you if you obey them. The laws of prosperity do not only refer to bringing you into financial freedom, but also about bringing prosperity into your whole being. The whole being is comprised of mind, body and soul.
The laws of prosperity apply to you as an individual and to you the businessman. If you are a salaried worker, you are still a businessman for you have negotiated a contract with your employer whereby you are selling your time and skills to him. That makes you just as much a businessman or person, as the high powered magnate that owns multi billion dollar companies, and if you will obey God’s laws of prosperity, then you will achieve the blessings that God wishes you to attain.
The fundamental laws of prosperity in financial areas relate to giving in tithes and offerings, which I will ellaborate on a little later, but first I want to cover a subject that is key to your blessings and in breaking free, from that which is holding you back.
Renew your mind.
Romans 12:2 says “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable will of God. A full teaching on this can be found by clicking on the link in the heading above, but I will go over the main points in this scripture.
Do not be conformed to this world means that you are not to be shaped or moulded into the ways of the world. The world teaches you and shapes you into their way. Their way is not God’s way, and in order to break free from the worldly ways you have to break free from the things that you have been taught by the world. It is only by breaking free from these worldly ways, that you escape the worldly problems such as recessions and bankrupcy. When you are a christian, you start to work according to God’s economy and not the world economy, and God’s economy is always great.
But be transformed by the renewing of your mind. You have to change the way that you think in order to be transformed from the old person laidened with debt and misfortune, to the new person who is finacially prosperous and full of blessings.
That you may prove (Test) what is that good and acceptable will of God. The bible only says in 2 places that I am aware of, that you are to actually test the Lord. The other place is in Malachi 3:10 where God instructs on tithing. Everywhere else it is written that you should not test the Lord your God. Maybe God knows that man is caught up with the love of money, and hence He says that we are to test him in this area.
Giving offerings.
The world teaches us all about our finances and how to handle them. The world says that we are to hold onto every cent possible and to save and invest every cent that we may increase our bank account. The money that we have invested will bring a return back to us in our old age. While this all holds true to a degree, it is not God’s way. God says that if we want something, then we have to give it away. In giving away it will come back to us, good measure shaken down and running over.
Why would God want to bless you? God blesses you financially so that you are in a position to take what He has blessed you with, and give it to someone else who needs God’s blessings. In your obedience in giving out what God has given to you, God is then able to increase your blessings again, knowing that you will in turn bless someone else and it then becomes a circle in which God continually is able to increase the blessing amount back to you. Initially God may give you 100 dollars and you keep 10% and then bless 90%, God then increases this to 1000 dollars and again you keep 10%. Eventually God is giving you 1 million dollars and that which you keep is now 10% which equals 100 000 dollars. I would say that the initial 90 dollars out of your first 100 dollars, which you gave away, has brought back a return that no wordly system can ever bring.
God has never opened up the skies to me and thrown dollars or other money out of the sky to me. It may have happened to you but it has never yet happened to me. God rather uses people like you and me to give to others. If you are believing for God to see to your need, then God will send someone to you, to see to your need. In order for God to be able to see to the needs of others, you have to be faithful to what He tells you to do and when He tells you to give to someone, you need to give in order to fulfill God’s purpose. Read this story about the little boy’s prayer. God works effectively through people who are obedient to His commands.
An important fact to note is that God will not and can not be expected to supply to you for your own selfish desires. God will supply to you and bless you abundantly so that you are in a position to bless others. A great inspiration is pastor Rick Warren whose book became a best seller and brought in millions of dollars to Him. Instead of becoming a rich fat cat, he first paid back to his church, all the salary that the church had ever paid to him. He then carried on to work at the church for free, and used a great deal of his income to plant new churches around the world. God blessed him to be a blessing to others. The Tithe
The tithe is central to your blessings in God. God commands that you give a tenth of your salary which is to support the church and His work. The tithe is not to be confused with the freewill offering explained above. There are many who say that the tithe is old testament and that it does not apply to the new testament. This teaching on tithing in the new testament will clear that issue in your minds.
I have had many people come to me and state that they simply can not afford to tithe. “When God increases our income then I will be able to afford to tithe”. Guess what, God blesses you through the obedience that you have in tithing and until you make the first step and decide to tithe, God can not increase your current financial blessings. If you are not faithful to tithe with what you currently earn, what makes you think that you will tithe on increased earnings.
I remember many years ago when I decided to tithe for the first time. I had been recently retrenched and had managed to find a low paying job that at least met 70% of our bills. However we had to borrow from and rely on donations from family members for the other 30% every month. Out of pure desperation my wife and I decided that we were going to test God’s word in Malachi 3:10 and we would tithe. There was no way that we could afford to tithe. We were already borrowing money every month to just see to our basic necessities with absolutely no luxuries. Anyway, that was probably the biggest amount of money that we had ever given away in our lives before. Of course it is peanuts now, but at that stage it was the biggest single sum of money ever given by us to “Charity”. As the basket came around and we placed the money into the basket, I just felt such a peace come over me it was unbelievable.
That month was the first month that we did not need to borrow money. To this day I do not know how, but we went through the month, meeting all of our bills and needs without any help from others. Shortly after that, the multi-national company that I worked for called me and announced that they had reviewed my situation with the company and had decided to do something that had never been done in the entire multi-national company before, they gave me a mid year increase of 50%. Mid year increases were unheard of and the current record for the annual year end increase had sat at around 22%. Chance ! No ways , it was God in all His glory honouring the obedience that we had in tithing.
Matthew 16:25 “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses His life for my sake, will find it. For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”
Breaking Free from the mould.
Above I showed you that you have to break free from the mould of the world and be transformed by the renewing of your mind. God says that we are the head and not the tail. The head is the leader and not the follower. God wants that you should lead in business. He wants you to be the leader in your job, that everyone should start to follow you.
Lead by example. Start to spend time with God, listening to Him, praying and reading His word, and He will start to give you new idea’s, he will start to make you the leader and not the follower. God says in Luke 1:37 “For with God nothing will be impossible.”
A couple of years ago God gave me a business idea. Things had been going badly and we were working like crazy just to make ends meet. Everyone thought that I was crazy and stupid to go through with the idea, even my own wife. I was criticized for wasting time on developing this idea whilst there was so much other work to be done, but I knew that i knew that the idea was from God and persisted. It took me one month to formulate the product to and within three months, this product had removed the company from all financial problems and into a highly profitable company.
Listen to what God instructs you to do and who knows, God may be leading you into financial freedom and prosperity through one small little idea that the world considers to be a waste of time.
