We are all slaves whether we like it or not. We do have a choice though, and that is that we get to choose who our master will be.
Romans 6:16 “Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness.”
We are all born into this world to sin, a slave of sin with a cruel master who will torture and punish us. He inflicts pain and sorrow, injects us with greed and lust and anger, and fuels our lives with cruelty. He sets us out to serve sin, to promote and advertise sin, getting you caught up and ensnared in his web of deceit. He is the prince of the air, who has his own future already laid out as eternity in the punishment of hell. He has one objective and that is to have as many slaves as possible share in his misfortune in eternity.
We do have a choice laid out before us, and that is that we are able to change the Master that we serve. Slaves are bought and sold, and we are no different being slaves. 2000 Years ago, there was a huge slave auction, and a great master came and paid a price to the prince of the air. This price was a set price, and holds good until the end of time. The contract of sale for these slaves said something like this, “Whoever should choose to change masters, and should accept Me as their new Master, shall be set free from the dominion of the prince of the air. Signed Jesus“.
Jesus paid the price for you 2000 years ago, that you do not need to serve sin anymore. He has a contract and if you should choose to serve Him, then according to the contract that is signed and sealed already, you are set free from serving sin, and you can start to serve righteousness. Serving righteousness and the Master of righteousness, the Lord Jesus, allows you total freedom. My Master, Jesus, is not a cruel Master, but is kind and loving. He gives me peace, and shows His loving kindness. He is always there to listen to me and encourage me. He lifts me up when I fall, and is quick to forgive me when I go against His ways. He is slow to anger, and fast to love.
If you have not yet changed your master, then I want to invite you today to make a choice according to that contract that was signed and sealed over 2000 years ago. All you need to do, is say that I am no longer prepared to serve the cruel master, but I now choose to serve the best Master, the one who is above all other Masters, and the kind and loving Master. Continue to serve the Master of righteousness, for with Him there is great peace and reward.
