The Anointing
Receiving the Anointing through the Anointing Oil.
1John 2: 27
"But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you, but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him."
In order to receive the anointing that so many christians are searching for, we first need to have a look at what the anointing is. Unless you understand what the anointing is and the full purpose of the anointing oil, you can not really walk under the anointing.
According to the Miriam Webster online dictionary, to anoint means "To apply oil to as a sacred rite especially for consecration." What does consecration mean. "To make or declare sacred : especially to devote irrevocably to the worship of God"
Therefore to be anointed means that you have irrevocably been dedicated to being sacred and to the service and worship of God. The day that you come to Jesus, and that you decide that from this day forth, you choose to dedicate your life to Him, he anoints you and you become anointed through Him.
Remember that the anointing is an irrevocable dedication which means that it can not be withdrawn. Once you are anointed, it is the point of no return. You can not slide back!
The anointing oil.
If we are anointed through Jesus the day that we dedicate our lives to Him, then what is the purpose of the anointing oil? Although many people are anointed, few actualy receive the full anointing. In 1John 2:27 above it shows that once you have received the anointing you will not need that anyone teach you, but that you will draw directly from the anointing which has been placed inside of you through Jesus. The anointing that Jesus places inside of you is His Holy Spirit. The anointing oil is considered to be symbolical of the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 10:27 says "And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil." The yoke is the wooden bar that is placed between oxen to hold them in place whilst they are labouring. The yoke that is referred to in the scripture is that thing that the devil has placed upon us to keep us in place. When we are anointed with the anointing oil, the spiritual yoke of bondage in our lives is destroyed. This yoke can be sin , sickness or any other evil thing that the devil uses to hold us in place. The devil hates anointing oil.
James 5:14 says that when we are sick, we should call the elders of the church and have them pray for us anointing us with oil in the name of Jesus, and the yoke of bondage in the form of sickness will then be broken and the sickness will leave.
In the olden days, the anointing oil was a specially prepared fragranced oil. In modern days, as the oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit, it is not necessary to use special oil, but any oil can be used to anoint. The anointing oil, being symbolic of the Holy Spirit, also serves as a reminder to the Devil, that this is the territory of the Lord and so it is a very wise idea to anoint the entrances to your house with the oil, and also to frequently anoint your own head with the oil.
In Matthew 26:7 a woman came to Jesus and poured a very costly oil over his head.
I pray that you will use oil frequently to break the yokes of bondage that have been placed upon us through the evil one, and that you will remember that the anointing is to consecrate yourself to Jesus.
God Bless.

Wow. I never realised exactly what the anointing was all about until I read this. I always thought that the anointing was just when there was a heavy prescence of God at a church meeting.
