James 5:16 “Confess your trespasses one to another,and pray for one another that you may be healed”
Today I want to teach you about one of satan’s biggest weapons against mankind and especially a weapon that he uses with great effect on Christians. We are in a constant battle with the forces of darkness and when in any type of battle, it is necessary to study the tactics of your opposition, in order for you to be on the defence against any such attack. First some facts :-
a) None of us are without sin. None of us are perfect, not one! We all have some sin in our lives.
b) Sin is sin – there is only one sin that is ranked different to other sins and that is to blaspheme the Holy Spirit. The rest are all the same in God’s eyes. It is only humans that differentiate between different sins. We have some sins that we find accceptable and some sins that we hate. Usually sins that match our own sins, we find acceptable. To God all sin is sin!
c) If we bring our sins to Jesus, they are forgiven of us and we are set free, yet often is the case where, even though we bring our sins to Jesus, we constantly recommit the same sin.
How do we break free from those sins that we have a constant problem with? How do we break free from the hold that those particular sins have on us and why do we constantly fall to that same sin over and over again?
Satan loves to play with us and his greatest delight is to get us caught in between two of his greatest weapons, Pride and Shame. When we are caught in between these two, we are in his jail, it seems impossible to break out and we are his captives. Yes we can serve the Lord, but mostly we find that we are ineffective due to the bars that are around us.
We are humans and as such, we worry about what other people around us, think of us.
What would people think of me if they knew what I have done! Pride and Shame!!You are ashamed of what you have done and are scared of what other people may say if they find out that you have done something shamefull. It does not matter to you what Jesus may think, He already knows what you have done, but you are worried about your image
“Confess your trespasses one to another”. Note it does not say here that you must confess your sins to God or to Jesus – it says to each other.
You need to tell others that you are not perfect, that you have fallen foul to Satan’s great deceptions and landed up in a place of recurrent sin. Satan is the ruler of darkness, and a sin hidden away is something that is placed in darkness and kept out of the view of others. It is something that satan can constantly use against you and blackmail and threaten you with.
Jesus is Light and light exposes all so that others can see. Where there is light there are no secrets. Where there is light there is no shame. Love covers all sin and Jesus is perfect love.
The people who walked in darkness
Have seen a great light;
Those who dwelt in the land of the Shadow of Death,
upon them a light has shined.
In Matthew 16 vs 19 Jesus says that He has given you the keys to heaven and hell. Just think very clearly now about what I am going to say to you. Did Satan throw you into your litlle jail where you are now, or did you walk in yourself and lock the jail door behind you, through your own shame of what you have done and your fear of embarrassment of what others will think of you should they find out.
It is you that are captive to your own actions and you already have the key to your jail door which Jesus gave to you. All you need to do is use the key of confessing your sin t
“If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them;”
If you are in the situation where you have sins that you need to confess, and have no-one that you are able to confess sins to, then you may confess your sins directly to this ministry by emailing to us . All confessions will be in total confidence and will be handled with the highest degree of discretion. No confessions will be published. I highly recommend though, that you rather find a Christian brother or sister who is mature in the word, and confess your sins to them, in order that you be set free.
