Repay Evil with Good.

As I was praying and waiting upon God for a message for today, the scripture of Romans 12:17 came to my mind. Romans 12:2 I know off by heart but I was not sure of Romans 12:17, so I opened my bible and started to read.

"Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.

If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peacably with all men.

Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay', says the Lord.

Therefore if your enemy hungers, feed him; If he thirsts, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

We are to love as much as is humanly possible, and do all humanly possible to live according to the fruits of the spirit. By growing the fruits of the spirit into our lives, we will automatically not seek revenge for evil against us, but will rather forgive those who have trespassed against us. We are to never try and repay evil with evil, for that makes us just as evil as the one who first committed evil against us, but rather we should repay evil with good, showing that we are the better person.

When someone commits evil against you, forgive them and forget, that you do not become bitter. If wrath is due against that person, then it will be committed against that person by the Lord, for all vengeance is His. Remember though that you have to forgive them out of your heart, and not with the thought that if you forgive them then the Lord will "Get Them". If you forgive for this reason then you have not forgiven. You have been overcome by evil.

Forgive and forget, grow the fruits of the spirit into your life, bearing much fruit, that you may live in peace and in the blessings of the Lord Jesus.
