Jesus love for hurts
When a christian is hurting due to some sort of tragedy that they have encountered in their lives, it is really the time that our christian brothers and sisters need to show them the love of Jesus. It is the time in their lives that they most need to feel the brotherly love and care shining into their lives and helping them to heal. Sadly, it is often when you are hurting and down that you will not feel the love of Jesus, but rather the total cold and harsh reality that is often the church of today.
I bumped into a little elderly lady the other day ( approx 60 years old). I know her fairly well from a church that we both "once" attended. This little lady has always been totally on fire for the Lord and does really great work going out and ministering to the poor areas. She is involved in running medical clinics and uses this to reach out to the poor and hurting. She has always been a real shining example of the true love of Jesus to all around her.
The lady started to relate to me how she was recently at a night meeting in one of the poor area's. She had been attending these meetings, aimed at improving conditions in these slums, for the past 26 years. This particular meeting started to get out of hand and soon the fighting began. She left the meeting.
On going to her car outside she was cornered by two black men and her horror ordeal started where she was gang raped.
Instead of being met with the love of Jesus shining through her brothers and sisters in Christ, whom she had so lovingly helped and loved for many years, she was rather met with accusations of "having been looking for it" and even deserving the rape because she was in bad area's. The pastor prayed once for her and she was expected to have been healed from this horror.
How sad! A hurt and ordeal like this does not simply go away with one little prayer. You don't get over it just like that. Where is that love of Jesus that is supposed to shine out from the brothers in Christ. Instead of love there is condemnation.
The little lady shared how she rejected the church and became bitter and filled with hate. This lasted for months until one little young girl who was filled with the real love of Jesus, noticed the change in the little old lady who had led her to the Lord. The little girl alerted another sister in Christ, from another denomination, who was filled with love of Jesus and this lady came and ministered and loved continually until the hurts of the ordeal were healed by Christ.
Unfortunately the hurts of the rape were healed eventually, but the hurts caused by the unloving and uncaring "Christian" brothers are not healed.
I can recount hundreds of stories like this one. When you are sick or in trouble it is often those who you have ministered to for hours on end and those that you have served lovingly for years, who are the first to turn their back on you. Real christians are unfortuantely a scarce commodity in today's times.
It is sad that many of our churches have become money making machines that are too busy to deal with and help those that are really in need. The love of Christ has often been replaced by a love of money. Brothers and sisters are too involved in themselves to be worried about others, and the love that is suppossed to radiate out to others is lost and instead attending church has become more about social status than spreading the love of Jesus.
Bring back the love of Jesus into your lives. Spend time to love those who are hurting. Help them and lift them up. Ask yourself what would Jesus do in this situation. Would He turn His back on them or would He hold out His arms and lovingly embrace them?
Love those who are hurting and nurse them back into spritual health. Bring back the love into our churches.
Choose Love
When Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness, one of the temptations was that of the promise of riches. Mathew 4:8 to 10 describes how the devil took Jesus onto a high pinnacle and showed Him all the kingdoms of the earth and promised them to Jesus if Jesus would Just fall down and worship the devil.
This is a story about a young lady who had a full and eventful life. The young lady was beautiful, smart and full of the love of life. She loved adventure and so shortly after leaving school and working to make some money, she started to set out to explore the wondeful world of travel.
On her various travles to exotic parts of the world this young lady met and soon courted some extremely wealthy men who all wished to take and posses her. there were extravagant gifts lavished on her and many a overseas trip as a companion, and of course there were countless proposals from these extrremely wealthy men. Accepting any one of the many proposals would have seen this young lady being advanced from a normal middle class person to one of the elite of the world. Money would never be a problem to her again in her life if she would accept just one of these many proposals, but at each proposal she politely refused.
Time progressed and soon the young lady met a particular very average man with whom she soon fell in love with. The man was also very middle class and did not posses any fortune or even a promising carreer that would bring some hope of a prosperous future. However the lady was in love and for her true love was more important than all the riches of the world.
The couple were soon married and had to survive the hardships of a new marriage and new family additions on a fairly low income.
After a few years the couple had a lucky break and saw the husband changing careers and soon the riches started to flow in. Now once again, prosperity has found this lady who turned away from prosperity in search of love.
The story shows that when we look for love, all sorts of blessings will follow. When you turn to Jesus, you need to come to Him in search of love, expecting love and nothing else. His kind heart will reward you accordingly and you may soon find that you are showered with riches.
Faith in the Name of Jesus
Faith in the name of Jesus is the key to opening the windows of heaven and for the glory of God to come pouring out on you. Without faith in the name of Jesus you are not even able to be saved. Without faith in the name of Jesus, you can not be healed and you will not see the glory of God the Father.
Acts 4:12, "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." If you wish to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you can never be saved unless you have the faith to believe that Jesus has the power to forgive your sins and set you free. When you call upon the name of Jesus, you are calling upon Him because you realise, and therefore have faith, that He is able to set you free. Therefore everyone who has already accepted Jesus into their lives already has a measure of faith.
Once you have accepted Jesus into your life, you begin to increase in faith and to walk in faith. Different people walk in differing amounts of faith according to what they believe and accept. Some believe in their hearts that Jesus only performed miracles when He was walking on the earth and that the miracle power of Jesus does not exist anymore. Others have huge faith in the power that lies in the name of Jesus and so are able to walk in faith and see massive and incredible miracles on a regular basis. Others only have faith in the name of Jesus for small things.
Faith is believing in things, the evidence of which have not been seen. In other words it is when you believe that something is going to happen when there is no other evidence that it will in fact happen. In Mathew 9:21, the lady with the flow of blood, followed Jesus and had faith that if she were only to touch the hem of His garment, that the blood flow would stop and she would be healed. She had no physical evidence that if she managed to touch his garment that she would be healed. ther was no previous medical research to prove the fact that she could be healed by merely touching His garment. All she had to go on was her faith that Jesus was indeed so powerful, that merely by touching His garment, even without His knowing, that she would be healed. She had faith for it to happen and so it happened.
Matthew 21:22, "if you have faith and do not doubt." Faith and doubt do not go together. In many of the healings performed by Jesus, there are clear cut words that are repeated by Jesus, "Your faith has made you well."
When Jesus ascended to heaven He left behind something for us to use. We have the power in the name of Jesus. Jesus gave us His name, that not only can we be saved by His name, but we are also able to receive and witness the same miracles through the name of Jesus, that were performed by Jesus while He was on the earth, if we only have Faith.
Acts 3:16, "And his name, through Faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the prescence of you all." Jesus is the same Yesterday, today and tomorrow, and His word carries true. Jesus has already said in John 14:12, "Most assuredly I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father." Jesus states clearly in this scripture that the works that He did on earth such as healings, will be carried on and will even become greater, by those who believe and have the faith to walk in the authority of the name of Jesus.
Jesus is right here, right now, and if you merely have the faith to believe in the power in His name, then you can expect a miracle from Him. If you wish to be saved by Him, then merely ask Him to come into your life and accept Him as Lord and Saviour. If you are sick and in need of healing, then have faith in His name and you will be healed.
Above all walk in His name, trusting that He is watching over you and is guiding and leading you into everlasting life.
Love is Greatest.
Love is the greatest gift that Jesus has given to us, for without the love of Jesus coming down to us as the perfect and greatest gift from God, it would be impossible for us to enter the kingdom of heaven or to receive forgiveness of our sins.
"And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love," 1 Corinthians 13:13. Jesus came and delivered these gifts to us, to abide in us - or to live in us. We are to be filled with faith, hope and love, but the best and greatest of all of these is love. We are to grow the fruits of the Spirit into our lives, and a quick look at the fruits of the Spirit reveal that these are all characteristics of true love. We are filled with His love and we are to let His live shine out from us as a light of love to the world. The love that is within us is greater than any faith that we may walk in.
If you are filled with faith and there is nothing that you are unable to believe for, even that you cast mountains into the sea, but yet you have not the love of Jesus shining through you, then you are nothing (1 Corinthians 13:2). If you spend all your time going out to feed the poor and sending money to feed the poor, but yet you do not have love, then you are nothing (Verse 3). Should you be highly spiritual and the greatest in the speaking of tongues and have not love, then you are nothing(Verse1).
In Matthew 22: 37 to 38, Jesus says that the greatest of all the commandments is that you Love God with all your heart and that the second is that you love your neighbour as yourself. There is a scripture in Matthew 9:13 that is sadly seldom used in sermons, "I desire mercy and not sacrifice." Mercy comes from the heart and is a product of love, whereas sacrifice tends to come from the brain and not the soul. Jesus requires that as the mercy of the Father was shown to us, by sending us the perfect gift of love, so too are we to show mercy to others around us in the form of His love shining through us.
Go out and let the light of love shine from within you into all the darkness that is around you.
The Light of love
"I have come as a light into the world that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness," John 12:46 . Jesus has come as a light so as to show us the way, a guiding star to lead us. Whilst this is part of the meaning of the scripture, I personally do not believe that the Light that Jesus often refers to is the guiding of us through life by following the light.
Jesus says in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven." If the light is the path and Jesus is the way, then why does Jesus tell us to let our light shine? I believe firmly that the light that Jesus refers to in both of these scriptures and all the other scriptures is in fact referring to the love of Jesus.
Jesus came to us as the perfect gift of love. He demonstrated true love to us and we became bonded to Him in love when we accept Him into our lives as Lord and Saviour. We then become full of the love of Jesus as well and it is this love that we are to use to attract the world and destroy the darkness. Love covers all sin and therefore the sin(darkness) is covered and destroyed by the light that shines from us in the form of the love of Jesus.
In the romantic world, it is often described how you can see a glow in the face of someone when they meet their true love or fall in love with someone. This is true and even more true when we fall in love with Jesus. Have you ever seen someone who is of the world, get saved and repent before Jesus. Often the person suddenly seems to look years younger and there is a glow in their face. This is the love of Jesus that is shining through them.
What is it that really distinguishes christians from the rest of the world - the love that they have inside of them for others. Why is it that you are able to spot a Godly man in a crowd without even knowing them - because the love of Jesus is a burning light that shines out of them.
Jesus said that He came as a light that whoever believes in Him should not live in darkness. If you do not have the light inside of you, and are living in the nightmares that darkness produce, then why not ask the light to come into your life today that the darkness may be dispelled from your life, and that you may experience and live in the fullness of the love of Jesus.
Perfect Gift Love
Love is the most perfect gift that can ever be given to anyone, or that can be given by someone. Anyone who is not loved and who does not know how to love, is like an empty drum, lots of noise but no substance. What is love? Love is not an eery feeling. Love is not an emotion although emotions can be a part of love. Love is an act of your will. it is something that you choose to do. It is something that you want to do.
Love is when you will do anything at your own cost, to benefit someone else, expecting nothing in return.
For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son. God did not need to send Jesus to us. God did not have to send Jesus to us. God wanted to send Jesus to us, so that we could see and experience perfect love. God gave us the perfect gift in His Son Jesus, who came to us, that we could experience the perfect love of the Father through Jesus, and that those of us who were prepared to receive His gift of love, could gain from it and receive everlasting life.
Jesus gave us two important commandments, first that we should love the Father with all of our hearts, and second that we should love our neighbour as ourselves. Love is to the spirit, what water is in life. Without love, we perish, we dry out out and become dust. Have you ever seen someone that neither loves nor is loved. They are dry. They are empty. They are an empty drum, full of complaints and moans and noise, but with no life flowing through them.
Love is life! Without love we are empty. Power and money is worth nothing, if there is no love. With power and money you can perhaps force people to obey you, but you will be empty and lost, without purpose. A river bed that has no water in it. It is said that Stallin was one of the most feared people in the Soviet Union. Anyone who dared to disobey him would suddenly dissapear. But it is also said that when he started to die, those who were around him, did not even try to save him, but merely turned their backs on him, allowing him to die, and that they would be rid of the tyrant. He was empty and without love.
How do you want your life to be, that of a dry river bed, or that river bed where the mighty Amazon river flows through? Jesus is greater than the waters of the Amazon, and He wants to fill the river bed of your life with His perfect gift of love, that not only you could be sustained by His love, but that you in turn would supply love and sustain all those around you with love. Love is the giver of life, and what can be better than to live a life full of love for those who are around you, and to be loved in turn by all you know. Look at a full flowing river, and observe how much life is around it. The grass is green, the trees are healthy and all the animals come to it to drink of it.
If you have never experienced the perfect gift of love, then open your heart to Jesus today, that He may full you with His perfect gift of love. Allow Jesus to flow into you and to flow through you, that all around you would come to know and feel the perfect love that has welled up inside of you. Share the perfect gift that Jesus has given to you. Show your love to others who do not have that love, and allow them to benefit from the living waters of love inside of you.
In Love No Fear
In love, there is no fear, because they come from opposite sides. As love is an emotion and an act of our will, so also is fear an emotion and is also an act of our will. Love comes from the Father and fear comes from below, so if you are filled with the perfect love that comes from above, and choose to walk in perfect love, how can there be place for that which comes from below.
1 John 4:18, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love."
Fear is an emotion that proceeds from the world. It is satan himself, who installs fear into the heart of man. With God there is only one fear that we as christians are able to harbour, and that is the fear of God. However this is a different kind of fear, it is a fear that is kindled from respect and love, as opposed to the fear which is installed through satan, which is a fear from torment.
Daniel was a God fearing man, who lived his life serving the Lord. In Daniel 6 it reveals the story of Daniel being cast into the den of lions. Those who were jealous of Daniel, tricked King Darius into signing a law that stated that whoever bowed down to any God, would be cast into the den of lions. Daniel was aware of this new law, but Daniel loved God and in his perfect love for God, he had no other fear.
Daniel continued to openly bow down before God and to pray to God three times a day, in the full view of all of those who he knew were going to accuse him. He was then accused and brought before the king, who then had no option but to throw Daniel into the den of lions. The king himself had been deceived, but the king also trusted in the God of Daniel, and therefore before he threw Daniel into the den of lions, the king said to Daniel in verse 16, "Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you." Even the King who did not have God in His life, recognised that God was going to save Daniel and set him free. Daniel had no fear!
1 John 5:4 "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world." Daniel was born of God and Daniel went into the lion den peacefully knowing that His God would deliver him and Daniel's love for God overcame the lions of the world and Daniel walked out of the den unharmed.
When Jesus was delivered to His capturers, He already knew what was going to happen to Him, and yet He was filled with perfect love and peace, for where there is perfect love, fear can not exist.
Do you belive that Jesus is the Son of God? If you can immediately answer "Yes", then know that you are able to overcome the world without fear and in perfect love for it is written in 1 John 5:4, "Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?"
If you have become fearful, replace fear with the perfect love of Jesus and everytime that the devil tries to bring fear near to you, just calmly reply to the devil "I belive that Jesus is the Son of God". In your perfect love for Jesus, you have overcome the world and all that is in the world.
Fear is of the world. Sickness is of the world. Low self esteem is of the world. Under achievement is of the world. Obesity is of the world. Inability is of the world. You have overcome all these things already through your perfect love for Jesus. Now walk forward, knowing that you have already overcome, through the love of Jesus, and through the knowledge and confession that Jesus is the Son of God.
Love Jesus
There is no greater love than the love of Jesus. Allow the love of Jesus to shine through you to your family and friends, that you may stand unified in the love of Jesus.
After Jesus had died and been resurrected, the apostles were left with two choices. Either they could walk away and forget all about Jesus and the mighty works that He had done, and the tremendous love that He had poured out, or they could stand together, believing in the words that Jesus had imparted to them, and they could walk forward continuing in the love that Jesus had shared with them. They chose to continue.
The important thing about the early church and the church of Acts, is that they formed a huge close knit family unit, bonded together through the love of Jesus that was inside of them. On the day of Pentecost, they were all gathered together in one accord. They all had the same common purpose, and that was to wait and receive the gift that Jesus had already promised to them. They stood together, loving each other and respecting each other, as one family.
Jesus said that the greatest commandment was to love God with all our hearts, and the second greatest was to love our brothers and sisters as we indeed love ourselves. The early church indeed loved their brothers and sisters in Christ and were prepared to sacrifice for their brothers and sisters just as Jesus had sacrificed for them and us.
After the day of Pentecost, the church moved forward in total unity and with the power that unity brings forth. There was no selfishness or self seeking and all was done for the love of the Lord and the love of the brothers and sisters in Christ.
In Acts 2:44 " Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone has need." They stood together as a family and there is nothing stronger than any family that stands together in unity. For if anything happens to one in a family, it happens to all. If any single person in a family suffers, the whole family suffers with them. And if any weapon is formed against one in a family, the whole family rises to meet and destroy that weapon formed. Hell can not stand against a family united in the love of Jesus.
Churches of today, remember the calling that Christ has given to us, that we are to love one another, as He loved us. We are indeed still one family and there is no single one that is greater than the other. If you see that your brother has need, then reach out to him and see to his needs. If your brother is weak, lift him to his feet and help him to walk. If your brother has no clothes, then clothe him and if he has no food then feed him, and mostly pray that the unity will return to the people of God, that all may stand together in the power and might of the Lord Jesus, and that no weapon formed, against any of the churches or brothers and sisters in Christ, may prosper.
Stand together united in the love of Jesus, forgetting personal agenda's, and remembering always that you stand in the midst of the mightiest army, the army of God. Jesus loves you today as much as He loved any of those who were of the early church. If you do not know the love of Jesus and have yet to join the family of God, then accept Jesus into your life today and become part of the biggest and closest family that ever existed.
Unbelief Prevents Jesus Working.
Unbelief in your life, prevents Jesus from being able to effectively work in your life and ties the hands of God. Matthew 14:58 "And He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief". Jesus requires that we walk in faith, which is believing in things, the evidence of which has not been seen. One of the requirements of a miracle in your life is that you have faith and that unbelief has no part in you.
Many people who have great faith for many things, do still walk in unbelief as well, especially in certain area's of their lives pertaining to themselves. They are stricken with unbelief in area's such as "Well I know God can do mighty works and miracles, but I am not sure that God loves me enough to be able to heal me. God loves brother Peter and will heal him, but I am not really worthy of God and so God will not heal me". This is what I call self sabotaging unbelief and it ties the hands of Jesus and prevent Him from being able to work in your life. Self sabotaging unbelief's mostly come in the form of the belief that you are not personally worthy of the love of Jesus.
In order for you overcome your unbelief, you have to form a deep relationship with Jesus. Only by entering into a deeper relationship with Jesus and having quality fellowship with Him, will you come to realise the depth of His love for you. Jesus loves you with a far greater love than you can ever imagine or even begin to return to Him. Jesus is bonded to you in love and being bonded you can not be seperated from Him. Romans 8:38 explains that there is nothing that is capable of seperating us from the love of God through Christ Jesus. Nothing that we have done in the past is capable of destroying the love of Jesus for us, and as long as we are true to repent, all of our sins are forgiven and we walk in the fullness of the love of Jesus.
One of the biggest factors that prevents a marriage between man and wife from going forward from strength to strength is doubt and unbelief that the other partner loves you. When a husband is unsure of the love of his wife, the marriage seems to become stagnant and does not grow stronger. When we are unsure of the love of Jesus, it prevents our marriage to Him from going from strength to strength. Once you come to the full realisation that nothing is in fact stronger than the love that Jesus has for you, then all things become possible and Jesus is able to start to perform the great and mighty miracles that you expect from Him.
Matthew 21:21 "If you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, be removed and be cast into the sea, it will be done".
Matthew 17:20 "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly , I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move and nothing will be impossible for you."
In performing many of the miracles of healing, Jesus turned to the people and said, "Your faith has made you well." If you truly believe that Jesus loves you, then you also believe that Jesus wants you to walk in the fullnes of life and to walk in total health, regardless of the circumstances that may have lead to you becoming sick. "Your sins are forgiven of you." Do not let your unbelief stand in the way of your future in Jesus, knowing that Jesus loved you enough to die for you over 2000 years ago, and that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, and that He still loves you the same as He did 2000 years ago.
Rise up and stand proud in the name of Jesus.
Bear Fruit in the Name of Jesus
"Bear much fruit so you will be my disciples", are the words of Jesus in John15:8. Jesus talks often that we are to bear fruit. In John15:5 "He who abides in Me, and I in Him, bears much fruit" and John 15:16 "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you."
What fruit is Jesus talking about in these scriptures? As I was pondering through John 15:16 shown above, I found the words a little amazing. Jesus said that we should go and bear fruit and that our fruit should remain. If the fruit that Jesus is referring to is that of getting people to follow Him, then we have no control over those that get converted and therfore how can we ensure that they remain. The next words are the words that caught my attention - "that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you." Does God only give you what you want when you have converted lots of people and led many to the Lord, and that all those who you have led to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, remain faithful to Jesus. I do not think that this is the case.
The fruit that Jesus refers to in these scriptures is the fruit that you have control over, and the fruit that you can grow and nurture to fullness. It is the fruits of the Spirit. The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control (Galations 5:22). We are to grow these fruits into our characters, putting away the works of the flesh. Once these fruits are stablished in our hearts and characters, Then we truly become disciples of Jesus. Once we have got rid of the fleshly characteristics and are walking constantly in the fruits of the spirit, then whatever we ask the father, He will do for us.
Farming is an art and a science, and we are to become farmers in order to grow the fruit, and have the fruit remain in our lives. We are to plant ourselves into Jesus and become grafted into the vine of Jesus, being bonded to Him in love. Then we are to carefully water the vine with love. Fertilize the vine through prayer and and spray the vine with the insecticide of studying the word of God by reading the bible. In so doing, the fruit that we grow will be strong and will remain, and the insects that come to destroy the fruit in the form of the flesh and the attack of satan, will be destroyed by the power of the insecticide that we use in the name of Jesus.
Become Farmers and grow the fruits of the Spirit into your lives through Christ Jesus and Abide in Him.
