Bring Your Child up in the Ways of The Lord
"Bring your child up in the ways of the Lord and they shall not depart."
Today I was blessed as I started to explore some faces on facebook. No it was not just any faces but rather faces from some of the youth from years ago that attended our local church.
In particular, I took a look at some of the youth that grew up at the same time as my daughter and who were on fire for God and some of those who were considered to be rebels.
To my surprise, the local group of friends, are all still in touch with each other through facebook, and although they have been scattered around South Africa and even the world, all are still on fire for the Lord, even those who were rebels!
Godly parents bring up Godly children who will succeed in all that they do. It may often be the case that the child will stray from the Word for a short time and may get caught up in some worldly activities, but they soon return to the place that they know and find comfort in - The Love of Jesus.
I remember a study that took place years ago where they studied the genealogy of two families, one a Godly man and another that was an atheist. The Godly man was followed by a host of successful children and grandchildren who all had good standing in the world - Doctors, professors and pastors - while the Atheist was followed by a row of Drunkards, bankruptcies, crime etc.
Parents, the best gift that you can ever pass on to your children is the gift of Jesus. Show them the love of Jesus in your life and bring them up in the ways of the Lord, and they will in return bring to you such joy and happiness, especially on a day in years time, when you meet them at the pearly gates and they are accepted to live in heaven with you.
Remember that the only thing that you can ever take to heaven with you is those people around you. Giving your children the opportunity to experience eternity in Heaven with you one day is the best thing that you can ever do for them.
Name of Jesus
We are mostly fairly comfortable in our little worlds knowing that Jesus loves us and that we are secure resting in His love. However not all goes right and you have possibly seen and wondered that certain people seem to walk in more faith and in more authority than you seem to.
You have possibly been an active christian for some years and it seems that even though you love Jesus with all your mind and all your soul, things do not always go right and somehow you are on the short end of the receiving stick when it comes to the blessings that are promised in the bible.
Sure, you know that Jesus wants you to be blessed and there is no real reasons why you should not be blessed, I mean you are a good person who does what is right and you keep all the commandments, but yet those blessings seem to avoid you but yet they tend to find others that you know.
Walking in the Blessings of Jesus.
Sometimes, especially when you have been walking the christian road for a longer time, it is not what you know that is important, but rather what you have forgotten and have neglected to do. You may be familiar with the term, "I have already forgotten what you still need to learn." Unfortunately this is often the case with some of us older christians and can sadly be the reason why we are no longer receiving the blessings that we used to.
One of the most important things that we often forget is the very real power that is in the Name of Jesus. Can you remember how when you first got on fire for Jesus and everything that you did or confessed was in the Name of Jesus.
Are you still confessing and claiming everything by using the most powerful tool that you have ever been given, or are you like me and have "forgotten" that the name of Jesus is the real key to claiming and walking in the full power and blessings of Jesus.
Without the name of Jesus, you have no power or authority and whatever you say or confess is meaningless and carries no authority. The minute that you add "In The Name Of Jesus" to your statement or confession, whatever you confess suddenly carries all the power and might as though Jesus himself was saying it.
Bring the mighty Name of Jesus back into your life and start to use the power that is in His name so that you may return back to the blessings that are rightfully yours.
The Love Jesus has.
The love Jesus has for us is something that can never be fully described or recorded, for it is simply far greater than anything that we are ever able to comprehend or understand. Jesus loved you from the day you were born and continues to love you after the day that you cease to exist on this earth. When you are at your worst moments in life, filled with sin and with hate, the love Jesus has for you does not diminish.
Does Jesus Love Me?
One of the most frequently asked and pondered questions asked is "Does Jesus love me?" Jesus is the same yesteray, today and tomorrow and He loved you the day that you were born. The love Jesus has for you is far greater than any sin that you can commit and the light of His love shines into the darkness of any sin in your life and destroys that sin within you, making you perfect. Jesus hates sin, but at the same time is true to forgive you of every sin in your life, if you just ask Him to.
What does Jesus expect in return for His Love?
What price does Jesus ask in return for the great love that He has for us? The only thing ever expected of you is that you love Jesus with all your heart, that you love God and live in constant relationship and fellowship with Him through prayer and quiet time. Jesus says that the greatest commandment is to love the lord your God with all your heart.
The second greatest commandment of Jesus is that you love your neighbour as you love yourself. If you love Jesus, you will automatically be filled with the love of Jesus, and this love will radiate out from within you and you will start to love all the people around you and be filled with compassion for those around you, for you have become bonded to Jesus in love and become like Jesus in this bonding, hence the name of christian - Christ like. The qualities of Jesus will begin to grow within you as the fruits of the Spirit.
I do not yet Love Jesus.
I know of Jesus and have heard a lot about Him, but I have never come into a realtionship with Him and so I do not yet love Jesus. If you have never yet had the opportunity to get to know Jesus and to love Jesus, do not fear for Jesus still loves you and has always loved you and will continue to love you. However, Jesus is waiting for the day that you will come to Him and invite him into your life, that he may be able to say to you, "My child, I love You."
If you have never invited Jesus into your heart, why not do it today, while you still have the opportunity. Merely say a little prayer to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, and your life will be changed forever. You will experience fully the love of Jesus and your hardened heart will be turned to jelly as He fills you with His love and removes all sin away from you.
Do not forget to go out into the world today and to tell someone about the love Jesus has for them.
Prosper in Jesus Love.
I pray that you would prosper through the love of Jesus that flows from within you, and that you may be blessed always through God our Father. I pray that you would abide in Him and He in you, so that you could walk in the blessings that He has already provided for you.
3 John verse 2, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
It is God's will for you that you prosper financially, in health, and in all walks of life. It is not God's will for you to walk in lack. God wants His people to stand out head and shoulders above the rest. God says that you are the head and not the tail. Why then are so many christians battling and why are so many clearly the tail? Why are you unable to walk in the full blessings that are promised by God the Father?
Isaiah 48:17,
Thus says the Lord your Redeemer,
The Holy One of Israel.
"I am the Lord your God,
Who teaches you to profit,
Who leads you by the way to go."
God is clearly the Lord who teaches us to profit and who teaches us the path to follow in order to profit. However the key to why some prosper, but most fail to prosper lies in the first sentence of verse 18.
"Oh that you had heeded my commandments!
Then your peace would have been like a river.
And your righteousness like the waves of the sea."
Disobedience to the word of God will prevent you from reaching the blessings that God has placed before you. God has placed many commandments before you, and unless you obey His commandments, you can not receive His full blessing.
The commandments that God places before us are nothing new, but are mostly contained in the bible. There are many commandments that we are to obey in order to obtain the blessings of God.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart.
Love your neighbour as you love yourself.
Obey the Ten Commandments.
Do not commit yourself into the deadly sins.
Obey the Financial Laws of God.
And many Others.
Deuteronomy 28 is a listing of the blessings and curses of God. Verse 1 opens the blessings and says, "Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all his commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth." It is very clear from this that unless you obey the commandments that God has given to you, you will not walk in the blessings that he promises.
Deauteronomy 28:15, "But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you." Disobedience to God's word comes with a high price.
In order to fully benefit from the blessings that God has already laid out for you, it is clear that you have to walk in obedience to God and in the love of Jesus. If God is first and foremost in your heart, then you will have no problem in obeying His commandments and keeping His statutes and the blessings of God will abound in your life.
Walk in obedience and love, so that you may be full of the blessings of God and that all may see that you prosper.
Love of Jesus Divides.
The love of Jesus is as a bright and piercing light that shines into the darkness and divides the darkness. Although generally love serves the purpose of uniting, the love of Jesus serves the purpose of dividing. Luke 12:51, "Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division." Jesus clearly states that part of His purpose on earth was to bring forth division amongst, not only the different peoples of the earth, but also within families. Verse 53, "Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother....".
Jesus was called first to the Jewish nation, where Jesus caused an incredible amount of division. His piercing light of love shone into the darkness of the Jewish nation and split the nation. There were Pharisees on one side and sadducees on the other and those who chose to believe in Him in the middle. The nation was in turmoil with fighting between those who believed that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and those who believed that the Messiah had not yet arrived. To this very day there is still deep division amongst the Jewish nation and anyone amongst the traditional Jews, who steps out and declares that Jesus was indeed the Messiah and becomes a Jew for Christ, is likely to be ostracized by the Jewish community and indeed by His own family.
When someone who is brought up in a Good Muslim home running under the guidance of Islam, decides to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, that person is cast out of the family and disowned by both the family and community in many instances. The love of Christ fills their hearts and yet divides them from their families and communities.
Religion is the cause of many wars and many fights, causing serious damage to families and tremendous loss of life, but yet we say that Jesus is perfect love and that love unites. Accepting the love of Jesus into your heart unites you with God your creator and you become bonded to Jesus in love. However, love can divide and Jesus came to divide the darkness from the light, and if your families and nations choose to remain in the darkness, you will become divided from them.
When we go out into the bright sun, we have to squint our eyes to protect them and we need to use sunglasses to shield our eyes from the blinding light. As bright as the son is, so is the Love of Jesus that shines through you when you accept Him into your life. That bright light that shines out from you often offends those who are in the darkness and they will retaliate against you. They will put on sunglasses to shield themselves from your light, and will turn their face away from you. It is not so much that the love of Jesus seperates, but more that the darkness hates the light so much that it turns away from it and protects itself against it.
When a family member accepts Jesus into their lives, the rest of the family which is still in darkness tends to turn away from the one who has the light. Do not be offended for they they can not bear the light that shines within of you. Walk boldy allowing your light to shine brightly and soon the piercing light that exudes from you through the love of Jesus, will begin to light their pathway for them as well and they will start to yearn for that same light to shine through them.
If you have never had the opportunity of having the light burn bright in your soul, then take this opportunity now and turn away from the darkness that you have been walking in and accept Jesus into your life, that His light could shine brightly through you.
Pray against temptation
"Pray that you may not enter into temptation," Luke 22:40 and again repeated in verse 46. These are the words of Jesus to His disciples at the Mount of Olives. Jesus knew that He was going to be taken away to be crucified and that the time had come that His disciples would no longer be able to rely on His physical prescence around them to guard over them and keep them from harm and temptation.
Jesus loved His disciples, and He wished that they would continue to walk in His ways and to build His kingdom here on earth, just as Jesus loves you and is bonded to you in love and wishes for you to continue to build His Kingdom. These words were not only for the disciples but are as relevant to us today as they were to the disciples 2000 years ago.
Up until this stage, Jesus had done most of the praying. Jesus would often withdraw from the disciples and enter into relationship with the Father through prayer. It was the manner in which Jesus maintained relationship with the Father and in which Jesus drew His strength from the Father. In Luke 22:42 and 43 it describes how as Jesus was praying that an angel appeared and strengthened Him.
We are to draw near to God and have a perfect relationship with Him through Christ Jesus who loves us. We have been given the keys to Heaven through the name of Jesus and we are to enter into His prescence often through prayer and draw our strength for daily living. When you are in constant relationship through prayer, you are full of the light of His love, the devil can not come near you, for where there is light there can not be darkness. Greater is He that is inside of you than He that is in the world.
Temptation comes from the devil who will continually attempt to remove you from the narrow path to the kingdom of God and eternal life in heaven. Whenever temptation comes, it will always be at your moment of weakness and when you are vulnerable from not being in full relationship with God. As soon as you see temptation, recognise that it is from the evil one and enter into prayer, for in prayer you are in the Father's company, from which the devil will flee, and the temptation will be overcome. Resist the devil through prayer and by confessing that the Jesus that is inside of you, is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.
Most of all, remain in constant prayer and relationship with the Father through Jesus, that you may walk in the fullness of His love for you and that the devil will not be able to come near to you due to the prescence of the Father around you.
Law of Liberty
James 2:12, "So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty," and James 1:25, " But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does."
James refers to the law of liberty. What exactly is the law of liberty? We all understand that liberty is defined as the quality or state of being free. However a law is usually something that binds us or prevents us from doing something. Why then is there a contradiction in this statement of the "Law" of "Liberty". You are being bound into freedom.
In order to fully understand the concept of this scripture, we have to start looking elsewhere in the bible. 2Corinthians 3:17, " Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty." Wherever Jesus is, there is total freedom and people are set free from that which holds them captive. When we invite Jesus into our lives, we become bonded to Him in love, and we are therefore bound to Him in freedom.
Galations 5:1, " Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." Christ came and set us free both from the law of moses, and the works of darkness that were in our lives and which held us captive. We are to fully understand the freedom that we have attained through Christ and we are to stand and remain in that freedom, resisting the calling that sin offers to us.
So what then is the law of liberty? The law of liberty is the freedom that we obtain from sin and the works of darkness when we turn from the world and accept Jesus into our lives. At the moment that we accept Jesus as Lord and saviour, we are immediately set free from the laws that held us captive and are released from the jail of sin, and are able to walk in total freedom.
James says that we are to speak and do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. This refers to the fact that although we are set free from the law of sin, many choose to cast aside the freedom that they received through the love of Jesus, and return to the captivity to which they are accustomed to being in, and to give their lives back over to sin. We are to accept that we have been set free totally and that sin has no power over us, or any authority over us. The law that Christ has made, is that we are to be free. The devil has to respect this law, and therefore has no rights over us, and he has to flee from before us.
If you have been set free, then you are to confess your freedom, walk in your freedom, and enjoy the freedom that Jesus has given to you. Above all walk in the perfect love of Jesus, remaining in relationship with Him.
The Light of love
"I have come as a light into the world that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness," John 12:46 . Jesus has come as a light so as to show us the way, a guiding star to lead us. Whilst this is part of the meaning of the scripture, I personally do not believe that the Light that Jesus often refers to is the guiding of us through life by following the light.
Jesus says in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven." If the light is the path and Jesus is the way, then why does Jesus tell us to let our light shine? I believe firmly that the light that Jesus refers to in both of these scriptures and all the other scriptures is in fact referring to the love of Jesus.
Jesus came to us as the perfect gift of love. He demonstrated true love to us and we became bonded to Him in love when we accept Him into our lives as Lord and Saviour. We then become full of the love of Jesus as well and it is this love that we are to use to attract the world and destroy the darkness. Love covers all sin and therefore the sin(darkness) is covered and destroyed by the light that shines from us in the form of the love of Jesus.
In the romantic world, it is often described how you can see a glow in the face of someone when they meet their true love or fall in love with someone. This is true and even more true when we fall in love with Jesus. Have you ever seen someone who is of the world, get saved and repent before Jesus. Often the person suddenly seems to look years younger and there is a glow in their face. This is the love of Jesus that is shining through them.
What is it that really distinguishes christians from the rest of the world - the love that they have inside of them for others. Why is it that you are able to spot a Godly man in a crowd without even knowing them - because the love of Jesus is a burning light that shines out of them.
Jesus said that He came as a light that whoever believes in Him should not live in darkness. If you do not have the light inside of you, and are living in the nightmares that darkness produce, then why not ask the light to come into your life today that the darkness may be dispelled from your life, and that you may experience and live in the fullness of the love of Jesus.
Love Christ
"To know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God," Ephesians 3:19.
The love of Jesus is so much more than we are ever able to understand with our minds for the love of Christ passes all knowledge. We may be of the opinion that we understand, but we do not. we may think that we know, but we do not. His love for us is greater than all of our knowledge combined.
Does Jesus love you? Of course He loves you, and he loves you with a far greater love than anyone else has ever had for you. He loves you far more than your own Mother loved you, far more than you ever loved anyone else. He loved you so much that He was prepared to die for you.
Whatever you can picture in your mind as being the biggest thing ever, whether it is the United States of America, or the vastness of Russia, the great oceans, the depth of the seas, the height of Mount Everest, whatever it is that you feel is awe inspiring to you, take that and multiply it a thousand times, and it still does not come close to the size of the love that Jesus has for you.
Even though you have sinned and maybe continue to sin, Jesus still loves you and holds His arms out wide towards you, waiting to embrace you. Even though you may feel that Jesus could never love you for the wrongdoing that you have performed in your life, believe me in that I say that Jesus still loves you and waits for the day that you will come to Him.
We are bonded to Jesus in the love that He has for us. Nothing can ever seperate you from the Love of Jesus. The only thing that may be keeping you apart from Jesus is the fact that you have not invited Him into your heart, to be your Lord and Saviour, your friend, your Master and your Keeper. Invite Him into your heart and begin to feel that inexplicable love that you will never be able to understand with your knowledge, but which you will know with your heart.
Fear The Lord
Fear of the Lord God has been lost in this modern society of ours. The fear of the Lord is the great mechanism that holds a nation together and leads it into righteousness and blessings. When the fear of the Lord is removed, the nation breaks apart and drifts into into sin of every description and decay and destruction follow.
The church is partly to blame for some of the erroneous teachings that have spread through the world. These teachings are teachings such as that the Old Testament is no longer applicable to our new generation, because of Jesus. They also add that the Love is Jesus is so great that it covers every sin. This is true, but not to the extent that it has become to be believed by all and sundry.
The love of Jesus will cover any sin that you repent of and confess to. It will not cover sins that are openly committed with the belief of "Oh well, Jesus will forgive me anyway!" Sin is dirt in God's eye and He can not stand sin. God and Jesus are the same and therefore, although Jesus is quick to forgive and true to forgive you, unrepented sin is dirt in their eye and can bring forth judgement and wrath from God.
Deuteronomy 10:12 "And now Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul."
The New Testament is built upon the old testament and has the old testament as a foundation. When viewing the old testament, it is viewed through the cross of Jesus and only where the work of Jesus specifically negates something from the old testament , does the item become crossed out in the old testament, and that also only to him who has accepted the Jesus as his Lord and Saviour and who recognises the work of Jesus.
Deuteronomy 10:12 above says that you must fear the Lord. Nothing that Jesus has done negates this commandment, and so therefore it stands as strong today as it did thousands of years ago. Losing the fear of God allows the doorway of sin to open. This nation has lost the fear of God and has become a nation of iniquity. With the iniquity comes the curses of deuteronomy 28.
One of the biggest concerns in modern times, amongst all nations is the spread of cancer and other disease. Cancer stood at a mere one person in a hundred who stood a chance to get cancer in the early 1900's. It is now estimated that one in three will get cancer, and even that figure is getting closer to one in two. Why? Because this nation has lost the fear of God and the curses of God are upon the nations. Look at Deuteronomy 28:27. This verse that describes some of the results of disobedience to God, specifically lists the tumours.
Now please, I am not saying that you have cancer because you do not fear God. There are many different reasons why cancer can be found in your body. However, this is a prime example of the evidence that the loss of the fear of God in the nation will lead to death and destruction of that nation.
Pray for our nations of the world today, that they will return to being God fearing nations who love the lord their God with all their might and all their heart and who set out to serve Him first, that the blessings of God may return to the nations and all will see His glory.
