Draw near to God
"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you," James 4:8 . One day I was listening to a Jewish man talking to some of his workers. He said "God only helps those who help themselves." I was fairly angry at the remark at that stage for not only had it come from a man whom I knew to be ungodly, but I believed that Jesus came to help those who were unable to help themselves.
However as the years have passed, I have come to realise that in essence what the man said is in fact true and biblical. God does help those who help themselves. First God does not come to you or walk away from you. You have to come to Jesus first and accept Jesus into your life as your Lord and Saviour. Jesus then comes and lives within your life. If you never take the first step of asking Jesus into your life then He can not come into your life. "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."
From that stage Jesus walks with you in perfect unity with you. He walks beside you, never in front of you and never behind you. When you take a step forward Jesus takes the step with you. If you do not take any steps then Jesus does not take any step. If you wish to be financially blessed then you have to take the first step and start learning to give. Once you give then He returns it to you, a good measure, pressed down and running over. When you tithe, you first have to tithe and then the blessings will come pouring out. God will not give to you bless you first so that you are in a position to give. You first have to give and then God will pour out his blessings. You first obey God and then He responds.
God says that never will He leave you or forsake you. God is not a lier and so He will never leave you. What does happen though is that we turn our backs on God and walk away from Him. Jeremiah 3:22 , "Return you backsliding children, And I will heal your backsliding". You first have to return to God and then he will forgive you and heal your backsliding."
God says that he will bless all that you put your hand to. Unless you put your hand to something, God can not bless it. I have encountered many who fail to grasp this concept. God always takes what you have and then blesses it. He takes what you are doing and blesses it. If you are doing nothing and are not giving God anything to work with, then how can God take it and bless it.
When Jesus fed the 5000, he first asked the disciples what they had. They had a few loaves of bread and some small fish which they gave to Him. He then blessed it and it fed the 5000. If the disciples had not given the bread that they had over to Jesus, Jesus would have had nothing with which to work with and therefore could not have done the miracle. Take what you have before God and offer it over to Him that He may bless it and multiply it. If you never offer what you have to God then He can never multiply it.
Faith without works is dead. If you are believing God for something, then be diligent and start taking the step and providing the way for God to supply it. If you need to be healed and are believing God for healing, unless you step out in faith, call upon the elders to annoint you with oil and pray for you, or take some other step that God can work through, the chances are that God will not heal you. You have to take the step of faith first. If you are looking for a wife or partner, you need to tell God what you are looking for, and then place yourself in a position whereby God can work and bring a partner to you or take you to the partner. Join a good online dating site like Cupid-Date and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into finding the perfect partner. However if you never go out or join any sort of orginisation where you can meet people, then how can God ever introduce you to your perfect partner. If you need to lose weight but do not want to chandge your habits, then how can you ever lose weight.
Step out in faith and create a situation where God is able to come through for you and to give you the desires of your heart.
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and Saviour now before it is too late, for soon the way to Jesus will be closed and it will be too late. Become secure by being bonded to Him in Love, and rest in the love of Jesus, knowing that you have secured eternal life.
As I was praying this morning, I saw a vision of a medieval castle. The castle had very high walls and had only one entrance. The entrance was large with a very solid wooden draw gate. The gate was open and many people were walking around outside of the castle. They were merry and were having fun, with much dancing and entertainment in the greens of the gardens outside of the castle. Whilst many were revelling outside of the castle a few had enterd to within the castle walls and were walking around in the peace and tranquility that was offered from within the walls.
Suddenly the gates to the castle started to close. The huge draw gate was lifted up and the entrance to the castle was sealed. The people outside the castle were filled with dismay, running and crying, shouting and screaming, beating fists on the gate to the castle, trying to get in but the gate was sealed. Those that were inside of the castle stood on top of the high walls and watched the desperate people outside trying to find a way to enter the castle. Whatever they tried, they could not open the door to the castle, for it had been solidly sealed, and those that were inside of the castle were secure and safe, but those who had remained outside were open to the elements, to the wolves and wild animals of the night, waiting unprotected for the enemy to devour them.
Such is the call of Jesus to you. He is sounding the trumpet, warning that the doorway to the castle of His security, will soon be permanently closed. Leave the partying and revelries that are outside the castle walls, and enter into the peace and security that is only found inside the walls of the castle. Come inside the gates of His love, and be secure in His love, knowing that you have eternal life within Jesus.
Accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, so that you will not be locked outside of the castle when the gates are closed, being left to the enemy that wishes to devour you. Become secure in the knowledge that Jesus loves you, and that You are His child, called of Him.
I am the Way
John 14: 6
Jesus said to him " I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
Jesus Is the way, the truth and the life. He is the only way through which we as sinners are able to reach to the Father. Without Jesus to wash away our sins with His blood, we are unable to come to the Father anf receive forgivenesss and eternal life.
Jesus is the doorway for us to enter through. Unless we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, we can not enter the doorway to the kingdom of God, and neither are we able to receive the gift of His Holy Spirit or the gift of eternal life. John 10 : 9 "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture."
The above scripture shows that all we do is to be done through Jesus. We will go in and out and find pasture. Jesus is the doorway that we are to use in order to pass through our daily life here on earth and the final doorway that we will use when we eventually graduate from earth and into heaven. We just have to knock on the door for it to be opened to us (Matthew 7:8).
Once we have knocked on the door of Jesus, He gives us our own set of keys to the door. The keys are the name of Jesus. We are then free to enter in and out of the prescence of God and His pastures, simply by coming through the doorway of Jesus and using the key named Jesus to open the door.
Ther are unfortunately two doorways. The first is wide and easy to find. It is the doorway to death and destruction (Matthew 7:13). This is the doorway that many choose, for the way to it is easy and the path is great and easy to follow, but following it leads to destruction and damnation.
The second doorway is narrow and the way to this doorway is difficult. Few find it. (Matthew 7:14). This is the pathway to eternal life. The path may be difficult tto find and the pathway is narrow, but following this path leads to great reward and eternal life in heaven.
Great is the reward of those who find this doorway and enter through it.
Establish the Love of Jesus in your heart.
Jesus loves you but do you love Jesus? Have you come to the realisation in your life yet, that Jesus is everything to you, and that nothng else in life really matters? To say you love Jesus, is not just a matter of saying a couple of words, but it is the end result of a the process of a relationship that you build up.
Love is such an easy word to say today, and people tend to repeat the words "I love you", far too easily without taking the full effect of the words into consideration. Love is something that you choose to do for someone and is not an emotion, but rather something that you choose to do. When you say to someone that you love them, what you are really saying is that you choose to do anything for them, to benefit them, at your own cost.
When you say to Jesus that you love Him, you are in fact telling Him that you are willing to do anything that He asks you to do, and anything else that you feel would benefit Him, at your own cost. Do you love Jesus?
James 5:7-8 " Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts ,for the coming of the Lord is at hand."
When I looked at this scripture, even though I have read it a million times, it suddenly dawned upon me as to why some of our requests and prayers have not yet been met. First the scripture says that we have to be patient. Many have been patient a long time, and yet their prayers still go unanswered. Then it says "Establish your hearts". What exactly does the word establish mean? I decided to look it up and this is the explanation or definition of the word establish:-
1) a) To set up or found.
b) To bring about or generate.
2) a) To place or settle in a secure position, to install.
b) To make firm or secure.
3) To cause to be recognised and accepted.
4) To introduce and put into force.
5) To prove the validity or truth of.
6) To make a state institution of a church.
Have you established the love of Jesus in your heart. Be patient therefore, and establish your love for Jesus before the world by following these steps carefully.
1) Accept Jesus into your life and confess Him as Lord and Saviour before others.
2) Repent and be baptised in water for the remission of your sins.
3) Be baptised with fire in the Holy Spirit.
4) Read your bible to obtain strength and character in your life.
5) Obey his commandments (Deuteronomy 28)
Be patient and establish Jesus as Lord of your life and as the first love of your life.
Born Again
Jesus said to us that you must be Born Again.
John 3:7
Do not marvel that I said to 'You must be born again'
verse 12 "If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things."
The above words are extracts of a conversation that Jesus was having with Nicodemus. This man, Nicodemus was a ruler of the Jews and was considered a very educated man of the day, and a teacher of Israel. Jesus explained to Nicodemus, that in order for someone to enter into the kingdom of God, you had to be born again.
Nicodemus, with all of his earthly wisdom and knowledge, was unable to understand that Jesus was referring to our spirit and not our earthly bodies. Nicodemus was not able to think outside of the area of his understanding and knowledge which then limited him to a knowledge and understanding of earthly things only.
When we come to Jesus and we call out to Jesus to help us and become our Lord and Saviour, we start to turn away from living as a earthly and wordly being and begin our journey into becoming a spiritually driven being. See also the regeneration. Our knowledge base starts to change and we start to gain an understanding of the heavenly things that we were unable to understand before. Due to the regeneration of our spirits, and the renewing of the Holy Spirit within of us, we become born again of our spirits.
In Matthew 13 from verse 13 to 15, Jesus explains understanding the heavenly things, has not been given to those who have not yet been called or been born again.
In Isaiah 55:9 it explains that as the heavens are higher above the earth, so are His ways higher than your ways, and His thoughts higher than your thoughts. If you are bound into earthly understanding, you will never be able to understand anything that is of God, as God is spiritual and not earthly. You can not understand God with your reasoning and you can not understand Him with your head.
You can only ever understand God with your heart, for within your heart is the Holy Spirit which gives you the understanding of Heavenly things. In order to enter into the Heavenly things, you have to have faith. Faith is believing in things, the evidence of which, has not yet been seen. Educated people, mostly, want to first see and have proof of anything before they can believe, and therefore they never attain the faith that is required to enter into spiritual understanding. Jesus says that we are to come to Him as little children. Little children are so full of faith and will do anything that you tell them to do, without question, knowing that whatever you promise to them, they will receive.
Come to Him as a little child, knowing that if you have total faith, and obey His commandments to you, that once you have obeyed and walked around the city of Jericho seven times, that the walls will fall down.
If you have never accepted Jesus into your heart before, and have never experienced the love of Jesus, then do so now, that you may start to receive the wisdom into your life that comes from above. Accept Jesus and become born again.
God Bless.
