Jesus. Jesus and you!

Seven Deadly Sins.

Seven sins are considered deadly and are listed in various religions as being the seven deadly sins or 7 sins. The seven sins are pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed and sloth. Sin is sin as far as I am concerned and all sin is evil and should be avoided, but what is it that makes these sins "deadly" as the religions put it.

Sin of Pride

Pride and vanity go hand in hand. Pride is where you deem yourself to be more than you actually are. The king of pride is the devil and he was cast out of the heavens when he tried to lift himself higher than God. Pride destroys you.

Sin of Envy

Envy is to be jealous of what others have. It may be their abilities, their wealth or possesions, or their beauty.

Sin of Gluttony

Gluttony is to consume more than that of which you have a requirement for. Whilst gluttony mostly refers to food and drink , it is not limited to that and a collection of material items for which you have no need can also be deemed to fall into the class of gluttony.

Sin of Lust

Lust is the opposite of love and lust in the seven deadly sins refers mainly to the satisfaction of the desires of the body. Mainly sexual.

Sin of Anger

Anger can be seen as outbursts of wrath and again is the opposite of love. Anger is usually uncontrolled and results in hurt to those who are around you.

Sin of Greed

Greed is the desire for material wealth and possesions. Greed is the state that one gets into when there is not enough, nothing satisfies and you desire more and more.

Sin of Sloth

Sloth is the aversion or dislike of work and exertion, laziness, a could not care less attitude, or one who just does not get motivated to do anything, not caring in the consequences.

What sets these seven sins aside.

The thing that really sets these seven sins aside from the rest, and makes them deadly, is that all of these sins are characteristics that we develop and that can be easily overcome through self control. It is things that we choose to be and not small little sins  that dirty our feet along the way. These sins, when nurtured or allowed to continue in our lives, will lead to spiritual death.
