Learning How to Forgive that you may be Forgiven.

A very famous saying that I was brought up with is, "I can forgive, but I will never forget". Is this how we are to forgive? Can you imagine the day that you arrive at the Pearly Gates and you announce at the gates that you are reporting. The angel looks your name up in the Lamb's book of life and says, "Oh yes, I know you, and yes these are the sins that were forgiven of you," and then continues to read out to you every single sin that you ever committed in your life. You would be waiting at the gate for eternity while the angel read out all your sins to you.

Is it not far better that when you arrive, that the angel says to you, "You are washed clean and are without sin." When we come to Jesus, and we ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins, Jesus washes us clean with his blood and removes every sin away. We are sparkling clean and totally forgiven. When we say to Jesus a couple of minutes later, Jesus remember that sin in my life, Jesus returns to you and says, "My child, I washed you with my blood and so there is no sin anymore. I see no sin." Jesus forgives us totally and removes it from His memory.

As Jesus forgives us, so are we to forgive others. Whenever you are battling to forgive others, and you find yourselves asking how you can possibly ever forgive this person for the wrong that they have committed against you, then simply remember Jesus, and what Jesus has already forgiven you of in your life. Think of all the bad things that you may have done to hurt Jesus, and yet He still loves you and opens His arms to you, and says, "This is my beloved child".

If you can not find it in your heart to forgive someone for something that they have done wrong towards you, it is not that you can not forgive them, but rather that you do not want to forgive them! We are created in God's image and we receive the nature of Jesus when we are baptised. If we have the nature of Jesus within us, then how is it possible that we are incapable of forgiving others. We are capable to forgive, the only thing is that we have to choose to do it.

You have to choose to forgive others of the wrong that they have commited against you. Even if you feel that you are incapable of forgiving that person, just simply say, Lord I choose today to forgive that person for what they did against me. Repeat this a couple of times and you will soon feel a tremendous release as what you speak with your mouth comes into being.

When you have washed your dirty clothes, and they come out clean and white, you do not continuosly go back and check to see if that dirty mark has come back. No, in fact you forget that the dirty mark was ever there and wear the clothes again proudly knowing that they are sprkling clean. When we find it in our hearts to forgive, we need to wash that sin away from the person, and then know that that sin is gone, and we need to continue in the confidence knowing that that sin will not return. Yes, it is possible that the shirt may get dirty again, but then you just wash it again.

Matthew 6:14 "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly father will also forgive you."

Jesus said in Matthew 18 :22 "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven."

When you find it in your heart to forgive others, your life will be changed and you will be set free. In forgiving others of the wrongs that they have commited towards you, the Father in heaven is then able to forgive you of all your wrongs that you have commited towards Him.

God Bless.
