I ALSO received this request, identical in wording, except that the first name of Brother Esohe is “Omo1.” I replied as follows:

Dear Brother Omo Esohe,
I pray for you. Please tell me how many persons you have approached with your list of “undisclosed-recipients,” so that you might receive six Bibles?
How am I to believe that your request is not intended to collect Bibles to be sold on the very black market you describe?

I also received this identical email (this morning), and was suspicious for the same reasons Jack is mentioning.

It would seem a wiser choice to work through a mission organization than an email sent to “undisclosed recipients” and from a person of which we have no clue where our emaill addresses were obtained from.

This is obviously a “shot gun” email across the web. I received the same email, and then went hunting to confirm if this is a hoax. I’m glad the individuals above posted the comments, so at least I know that this was not a “single shot” to me trying to obtain much needed bibles.

I’ll rest easier tonight and will devote precious resources to those truly in need.

Received the same this morning from “Uwa Esohe” …

thank God for it. Some times God want us to appreciate our small position
before He will take us to bigger ones. I gave my life to Christ, washed by His
blood about 14 years ago after been and idol worshipper which is my family
religion from youth. I got baptized five months thereafter. I have remain in
the faith going unto perfect because I’m not perfect.

I am writing believing that you could help us for some bibles. Me and my wife
needs two giant print bibles king James versions. The ones we use now are
small prints which have turn. We have difficulty with reading the small
character letters please help us. Bibles cost a lot here even those of the
black market with fake prints. My father and mother in-laws are aged and they
are now Christians. They can read also and we need your help for two super
giant print bibles for them. A couple also need bibles. They are old and
devoted to Christ. In all I ask for your help for six bibles giant characters.
I know that this would cost you some money to fulfill and I have prayed and
will continue to pray that our heavenly Father make the provision for you to
help us and as you sow this seed he will bless you. Please send the bibles to
us by GPO 3023, Benin, 30001, Edo State, Nigeria, West Africa, in EMS post
office mail as they said this is safer.

I pray that God will bless you and make you be like a very fruitful tree in
time of need so that many can eat and take shade from it. “And God is able to

I too received an email from Edos Esohe asking for Bibles for his church. Thanks to your comments I realise that this is a scam and won’t be replying. It’s a clever scam because they’re asking for Bibles rather than money (at least initially). The answer is support those Christian charities that distribute Christian materials & Bibles to those parts of the world.
