Because of Unbelief.
Unbelief is a Millstone around the Necks of My People.
Matthew 13:58
"And He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief".
Jesus did very few mighty works in His own home town, because the people there did not believe that He was the Christ, the Son of the Living God. In fact, at first, even His own brothers did not believe in Him. This can be seen in John 7:5 . Why did these people not believe in Him. Maybe it was because they had become too familiar with Him!
Those who new the background of Jesus were those that were filled with unbelief. They said things such as "Is this the carpenters son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things? So they were offended at Him". Matthew 13:55 to 57.
Have you maybe become a little too familiar with Jesus, and is that not possibly why you battle with unbelief? People from other towns were easily able to accept the fact that Jesus was the Son of God, and they welcomed Him straight into their hearts, and they believed. Through this belief that they had in Him, He was able to perform mighty miracles. These people knew that if they could only come near to Him, they would be healed. They travelled from afar, and as many who came to Him were healed.
Has Jesus maybe become a tradition in your life, that you have forgotten just how much He really means to you? Many of the mighty men of God, have been pulled out of terrible lives of sin, then transformed by the word of God, and carry on to become mighty evangelists for Jesus and cause hundreds and millions of people to be saved. One such biblical character was the apostle Paul. He was a great sinner, then he had an encounter with God, was transformed by the power of God and went on to become the greatest apostle of all time. Paul had a life changing experience with God.
Many are born into religions and are raised as Christians. They become familiar with Jesus and are raised with Jesus constantly around them. Sometimes, they are too familiar with Him, as were the people of His own country, and they become filled with unbelief and in so doing they prevent the miracles of God from happening in their own lives. You see, Jesus actually starts to become a tradition in your life, instead of a revelation. Jesus becomes a millstone to you, which prevents you from doing the things that everyone else is doing and causes you to have to go to Church on Sundays. You start serving Jesus out of obligation and not out of love. You have always been a Christian and so have never had a life changing experience with the Son of God. You become a one day christian, who puts on the robe of rigteousness on Sundays only, but the rest of the week, Jesus becomes a forgotten entity.
It is not too late to change, and have that life changing experience with Him. Renew your mind through the power of the word of God. Ask Jesus to come into your life again, and to fill you with belief. Fall in love with Him again and your life will be transformed. Miracles will start to happen in your life again.
Matthew 17:20 " Because of your unbelief; for assuredlyI say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you." The word of God and the power of the word of God has not changed. His ability to perform in your life has not changed. It is time for you to renew the way you believe, and to start casting the mountains into the sea.
God Bless.
